Get in Shape! A great new years resolution. People spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying gym memberships and fitness equipment this time of year in preparation for their new years resolutions but you dont have to. Getting in shape doesnt require money, just knowledge and dedication and this video will put you on the road to fitness. In this video I will show you how to achieve your new years resolution of losing weight and getting stronger with a simple 30 minute home workout. This video assumes that you have no experience with fitness or weightlifting so dont worry, we are not going to use any intimidating equipment. You will feel better and have more energy after your very first workout! OK, now for our workout, there are only three exercises – crunches for abs, pushups for chest, shoulders and triceps, and pullups for lats and biceps. And dont worry, if you cant do a single pushup or pullup I will show you how you can get started and build up your strength. This workout is for everyone, no matter how out of shape you are. You probably did these three exercises back in PE as a kid, but I’m going to show you how to do them correctly so you dont get injured. On Monday/Wednesday/Friday do 15 minutes of cardio and this 15 minute workout. On the other four days of the week, do 30 minutes of cardio. Did you know that 1 out of every 4 Americans are on a diet. But, why do over 90 percent of the  people who lose weight by dieting gain back every pound they lost and then some.What goes wrong?  Well, our brain is like a thermostat that controls the furnace – our body.

When you eat, your metabolism burns the food to release its energy. When you eat more than your body needs, it is stored as fat. Now, if you crash diet to lose weight, you will lose weight at the start. But then your body will quickly shift into starvation mode and lower your thermostat by slowing down your metabolism. Even on a starvation diet, you will start to gain weight again, and much of what you eat is stored as fat. You gain back every pound, look fat again and then some. In frustration, you will try a different. But the more you lose the more you gain.

 Do diet gimmicks work? Dr. Lawrence Lamb bluntly puts it this way: There is no such thing as a safe, effective pill to cause you to lose body fat. Why?  Well, diet pills may suppress your appetite for a short time, but the body will adjust quickly to them, and your fat and appetite will return. Or your metabolism slows down and you gain weight anyway. There are also some nasty side effects that come with pills such as such as high blood pressure, dizziness, addiction, and anxiety attacks,. The same can be said for pills that speed up your metabolism or eliminate water.

Drink a large glass of water before each meal. First of all, water has no calories, is fat-free and cholesterol-free, and is low in sodium. Second, it is an appetite suppressant. Third, water helps the body to metabolize stored fat. How? Well, when the kidneys do not have enough water, they cannot function properly. The liver steps in as a backup, but doing so hinders its ability to metabolize fat effectively. The fat thus remains stored in the body, and you gain weight. Hence, as Dr. Donald Robertson of the Southwest Bariatric Nutrition Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S.A., says, proper water intake is a key to weight loss. If people who are trying to lose weight dont drink enough water, the body cant metabolize the fat adequately.

When the body experiences a water deficit, it attempts to hold on to every available drop by storing it in such places as the feet, the hands, and the legs. So nutritionists recommend that we give our body what it needs enough water. And remember, the more salt you eat, the more water you will retain to dilute it. Doctors therefore recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

 Find healthy alternatives to eating especially if you have been in the habit of eating whenever you are depressed, tense, bored, or lonely. Go for a walk or a bike ride. Listen to some music. Work on a hobby. Talk to someone you can confide in.

 Most dietitians agree that enjoying a little of your favorite foods once in a while wont hurt you. But if you really want to lose weight, you must develop a taste for healthier foods such as fruits, nuts, whole grains, and vegetables.
